Seems like every time I leave the house I need to take along my camera, bloggie, bottled water and a snack a plastic shopping bag is not attractive or sturdy.
So I gathered up some stuff laying around the house and whipped up a carry all bag.
Red paisley decorator fabric was left over from some pillow slip covers that I made and the off white fabric is a pair of tab top curtains.
Cut
4 panels (2 from each fabric choice) 12 1/2" wide and 13 1/2" tall
4 side panels (2 inside fabric choice & 2 outside fabric choice) 5 1/2" wide and
13 1/2" tall
2 bottoms (one from each fabric) 12 1/2" X 5 1/2"
1 pocket 6 1/2" wide and 9" tall
2 handles 38" long
I cut the tabs off the curtain and used the seamed top as my handles, so I had no sewing involved with that step.
Serge all the seams together for the bags liner.
Hem the top and bottom of the pocket. The sides will be caught in with attaching the handle.
Position pocket on the front and stitch the handle in place, making sure it overlaps the pocket on each side enough to catch the raw seam.
Attach handle on the other side in the same place as the first.
Do not sew the handle all the way to the top leave about 2" so you can turn the top over and create a finished edge.
Serge all seams together for the outside fabric choice
Insert the liner and serge around the top to hold in place.
Fold the top onto the outside fabric to create a hem around the top.
One Carry All Bag Complete!
