Happiness at Work Making sense

Since the early twentieth century, working conditions in the West have improved enormously but that does not mean that has grown in parallel with the satisfaction of employees on their jobs. course which now has a job, monotonous it may be, is considered more fortunate than he who is unemployed because the job than provide the money needed to survive, it puts us in relation to other people and we also solves the problem of how to keep us busy most of the day . Still, for many the work is just a necessary evil.

work occupies most of our adult lives and yet is perceived as a burden sometimes. For some people it's just a boring load, others can become unbearable. But most of the time do not refuse to work, but the rejection to the content of a particular job. Note in the example of people who suddenly wins a prize in the lottery or unexpectedly received a large inheritance. Finding himself suddenly in possession of much money the first thing they do is proclaim from the rooftops that they will stop working to be a great life, but after some time again sought an occupation.
The example above shows that the work is an activity that we need and instinctively look for when we lack. There are countless studies showing the psychological value of work and how not produce a much higher level of distress that one experiences when they announce that someone is seriously ill.

redefine
as the starting point: not work, but the job that sometimes makes some people unhappy.

Bertrand Russel says! " in his book The Conquest of Happiness the best jobs as a source of happiness are those that contain a design element. Who has not ever experienced the intense satisfaction that comes from having done an important job well, something worthwhile, that leaves a trace of our passage through the world? The challenge is knowing how to combine work and livelihood to the work as a source of satisfaction and fulfillment . But how to find a job to fill us?

does not take Einstein or Michelangelo to feel that satisfaction that comes from creative work. We just know clearly that our work has a particular meaning or purpose, which is required of us is within our capabilities and to get it right will also serve to explore our own limits and discover the way we're capable of much more than we thought.

I propose a very simple exercise, take a piece of paper and divide it into two parts, one of them write down things that make you enjoy your work and the other which will make him suffer.

Most of people when they do this exercise and write down what makes them enjoy their work say things like:

• I like what I do. • Work with people that understand me. • Doing things right. • Feeling fairly treated.

However, when listing what makes them feel ill at work mention some of the following causes:

• The excessive workload. • The bad environment with my peers. • Take me wrong with the boss. • Do not trust me.
If you analyze your own list or the examples I just to quote on what we like and dislike of work, discover that most of these factors relate to interpretations that each do it in a given situation. not what happens around us that makes us feel happy or unhappy, but how we interpret the events within.

Experience has taught me that only when I'm satisfied is when I give it my best, but also be happy is a choice that I can do at any time.

I have met many people in my life who developed work that others might consider some creative and which, however, had succeeded in giving a new meaning based simply to change the perspective to use on them, that is to take a different purpose. (See videos of fish that I put this month)

The second quality of work that help make us happy is the fit between our capabilities and demanded the execution of a certain task . This item can be very different ratings depending on your point of view is taken. Young people entering a job for the first time or those who are promoted to play a greater responsibility, often say they feel empowered to do so. no evidence that they are able to perform the new work, yet have the conviction, with the inner certainty, that it is. On the contrary, it often happens that personal choices are made where the key decision criterion is the candidate's previous experience in the position to be met, and it turns out that the selected person fails in his new job.

The third element necessary for a creative work is referred to the component of challenge that we are able to see it . The word challenge define a goal or commitment to undertake difficult and therefore constitutes a stimulus and a challenge for who faced. The challenge lies in being able to survive outside of our comfort zone, that set of principles, ideas and behaviors that are common to us and help to create us a sense of security.

We are in our comfort zone if every time we go to a restaurant ask the same dishes, or if every time we tend to seek the company of the same people, or if every time we buy us observe the same person or if every time we work is performed in the same way. routines we use in life to feel safe and comfortable, they kill our desire adventure, the desire to learn, to discover and grow . In the comfort zone of our spirit of survival leads us to cling to what we have experienced and feel safe, because it avoids the risk of making mistakes, to fail or feel rejected. But many times the price we pay for that sense of security is to give to experiment with new opportunities, which in turn limits our possibilities in life and often leads to boredom and emptiness.

Thus, the work has a lot of mental game. It's a game we invented each of us and begins to decide if the work is going to be a burden or a source satisfaction and personal growth.

Control over the way we experience the events of our lives is entirely in our hands . And even though we often use slang expressions like "my boss bitter life," "my work frustrates me," "the atmosphere of my work, I press" the fact is that each individual is solely responsible for feeling bitterness, frustration or oppression.

However, when we truly accept, choose and take responsibility for our thoughts and actions, our commitment to them is greater and with it grows our performance.

Companies can take some initiatives to improve the context in which it develops the working lives of employees by providing them with good tools, nice offices, properly trained and competent leadership. But however much the company makes for its employees, the experience they have on the performance of their jobs will remain solely the result of individual choice.

It is therefore important that in our work environment there are people who we remember the enormous power that we exert on ourselves and inspire us to use that power to work not only productive activity but also a source of satisfaction and personal growth . And those people do develop will be those individuals who make up the organization and as a result of the individual development of people will be the organizations that develop.
