Mothers Jar of Love
I wanted to show you how to created a Mothers Day gift on a budget and still be heart felt.
This is the one I made for my Mom several years ago and I wanted to share it with everyone.
What you will need:
1 pickle jar or similar (if you don't have one on hand stop at any local diner, and they will normally have one they can give you.)
Potpourri
365 note cards
Scrap of fabric for the lid
The idea is to come up with 365 memories shared between you and your Mom. I know it seems like a lot and even overwhelming, but believe me once you take the time to sit down and start thinking the memories will flow.
If you have siblings split the cards up and have everyone write down memories.
I had many laughs and some tears writing my Moms and even some memories she had forgot but once she stared reading the note card it came back to her.
Add some potpourri and the note cards (now every card will smell pretty.)
Let your Mom know she is to read only one memory per day. This will give her something to look forward to every day.
As we all know memories are precious!
In my Moms own words here is what she said about her gift:
I am so blessed to have such a loving, caring daughter who gave me the perfect Mother's Day gift.. I was surprised with the most precious, hand made gift from her. Note cards hand written with memories from her childhood were inside a decorated jar enclosed with some pretty smelling potpourri. Each morning as I start my day, I pull out a note card and read it. Some cards leave me laughing as I remember some of the crazy, fun things we have done. Some leave me with a tear rolling down my check. Some are memories of all we have shared together and how things are so much easier to bear because we have each other to love. And then there's the things I never knew about (Mom's always the last to know)! I picture the little girl she was, with a cool-aid mustache and marvel at the wonderful woman she has become. My daughter, my friend and a wonderful gift from God.
