Summer 2010 is far from over and with some European beach time on the horizon, I am wondering if I can get away with sporting these surfer (base layer) short shorts by UK ethical sportswear label, Finisterre. The 'hotpant style' Zephyr Short is made from the finest, ethically sourced Merino wool and is naturally breathable and seamless in fit.
Finisterre has an impressive track record of responsible fabric sourcing, and the Zephyr short demonstrates this manufacturing commitment with its superfine merino having been sourced from Australian TMC accredited farms, and processed and knitted in EU eco-label certified spinners. There is full traceability in Finisterre's product line and this makes them a definite frontrunner in the race to make a difference in the sportswear industry.
'Short short' base layers may not always appear to be the most liberating way for a woman to flaunt her total (brainy) package, but as an expression of true sustainable style, I believe that a show stopper like the Zephyr adds a whole new dimension to responsible wave riding and bold environmental awareness. I'm on board.
