The Royah Project of ethical design from Afghanistan brings together art and economic development initiatives for artisan women in Kabul while also presenting to the western world the richness and diversity of indigenous textiles. I was so pleased to learn more about their amazing collection at last month's EcoChic Geneva event via Isabelle Quéhé, founder of the Ethical Fashion Show.
Royah, which translates to "vision" in Dari, was set up in Kabul in 2005 by a handful of women who wanted to make an empowering difference during challenging times. "Drawing on Afghanistan’s rich cultural history, we create contemporary fashion using Afghan textiles and Italian expertise."
